Sushi in Japan (NO.2)
If you’ve tried the 100 yen sushi already, or want to go to a more formal sushi resturant, I want to introduce you to one called, “Maruchu”.
The features in this restaurant will be that there is one big sushi lane, and around it, there are several tables, and in the middle the sushi chef. You take the sushi off the lane, or you directly tell your order to the sushi chef.
Another thing you may find interesting are the plate colours. Depending on the colour the price differs. The more rich ingredients it uses, it will usually be more costly.
The taste is delicious ! For me, I would come here, with my grandparents often, since they say that the 100 yen (💲1) doesn’t taste good. I can tell the explicit difference of taste between the two, but comparing the price too, it is so different.
I always order Maguro (red tuna)
Ikea (squid)
Hamachi (young yellow tail)
Ebi (shrimp)
Salmon
Tamagoyaki (sweet egg roll) etc.
All of them are my favourite :9
By the way, if we compare this restaurant with the traditional sushi restaurants, they do not have these moving sushi lanes ! You can image those “restaurants” are something like this.
The sushi chef will be well trained, and they don’t show the price on the menu, so you either tell them what, or leave it up to the chef. The fishes are super fresh and the way they make it is very special, so the price will be commonly, very high. It really depends on how much you eat, or which restaurant but, 20,000 yen per person (200 dollars) would be common (I think).
Overall, I found that “Maruchu” has the sushi fun atmosphere, where you can actually see the people make it and you have a conversation with them which makes the food taste better in many ways.
You can find “maruchu” in shopping malls etc. in the Tokai area. Find out more if you’re interested.
